McConnell Lake Hiking

Happy Monday! This weekend was a fun one. Friday night I had a couple of friends over to have a bonfire in the backyard. We roasted marshmallows, drank red wine and finished off the night with a card game. Sadly I didn’t get any pictures because it was already dark by the time everyone came over!

Saturday was a gorgeous day, sunny and warm. Decided to go out for lunch with Ashley and Callie at the casino, where we sat on the patio in the sun. After lunch we went and walked around an open house in a development in town, I love getting to check out new houses. It’s always fun to see the different layouts and designs in new places.

Sunday was another beautiful day so Callie and I decided to go for a hike with the dogs. We headed up to McConnell Lake, one of my favourite spots, which is about half an hour out of town. The trail goes around the lake and usually takes about 45 minutes. Despite the warm and sunny weather we had all week in town, when we got to the lake it was still frozen over, and we soon found the trail was very icy.

We both ended up with some slight injuries from falling on the ice and getting stuck in some snow. The dogs had a good time and it was nice to get some fresh air…I think next time we’ll wait until the ice is melted. I spent the rest of the day catching up on some Netflix and nursing what I think might be a sprained ankle.
